Clinics Coming Late Summer

I have two clinics in the works for Sept/Oct. The first will be a free First Aid clinic hosted by Dr. Justin Miller, DVM. I think its important that everyone attend if you're in town. This will happen on a Saturday in September, just not sure which Saturday yet.

In addition, I'm working with Kris LePow on giving a jumping clinic at our stable which will be open to the public and with a limited number of participant slots. She and I will come up with a format, schedule and price soon as I'd like to get it advertised in tack shops & online by the end of July. I'm shooting for either the last weekend in September or the first weekend in October.

If there is good response to the jumping clinic I hope to try a local schooling combined test sometime in November or December.

Fidel Is Back

Well, he will be tomorrow. Riley will spend a few nights in the riding ring due to a blown charger on the hotwire fence & nowhere else to put him at the moment. I bought a new battery for the charger but it still doesn't work, nor does the one I stole from the front pasture. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll have better luck electrifying the back pasture by the end of the weekend.

Heat Advisories & Feeding Later

Due to the heat advisories horses won't be fed until this evening to keep them under fans as long as possible.

Generally speaking, if the horses are still in when you come and staff isn't there then its safe to assume they haven't been fed yet. If the horses are out then they've been fed.

Barn Phone Number

The new barn phone number is 884-1149.

If you need to get a message to the person working that shift please make sure you call BEFORE 8am for morning shift (before 7am if it has to do with feeding your horse) and before 3:30pm for afternoon shift.

Lost & Found

Could you please post the following on the blog?

Nicole and Kenzie were playing around the farm yesterday and found a white hair bow. Kenzie brought it home rather than putting it in the lost and found. She understands that it needs to go in the lost and found when we are at the farm next. If anyone can claim it in the meantime I'll be happy to put it on your trunk.If no one claims it I'll place it on the white shelves under the bulletin board.

Feeding Late Today

Due to the wave of storms coming this morning I won't be heading to the barn to feed until around 8am.

Land Line Coming

Due to the cost of maintaining a business phone line (approx. $116 per month) I had chosen not to have a barn phone. I can't get a residential billing rate since the phone company knows this is a business address.

I've been made aware that some people have been asking for this so I've decided to order the service for as long as I can afford it. The phone will be located on the desk in the feed room and is for local & emergency outgoing calls only.

Incoming calls are only to be answered by myself, Susie or Mike & Lori. Boarders can call this number early morning or mid-afternoon if you need to get a message to whomever is working that shift. For immediate needs and emergencies you should still call my cell phone directly.

I'll post the new number when its in & working.

New mare coming

We have a new mare coming today. She will be.using a stall until I have the back pasture ready as she'll be on pasture board.

Her name is Em I believe and she's owned by a teen named Kaijsa(sp).

Rain...Rain...Go Away!

The horses will soon be outfitted in scuba gear if this keeps up! The ring is under water, the grass (in & out of the arena) has standing water and the dressage ring is the last place you'd want to do dressage.

The horses are staying in during the day regardless of temperature due to the wet ground conditions. Their feet need to dry out and the pastures get torn up when they're out & its soggy.

The only potential bright side I can see here is more grass growth, just wish I could make it all grow in the small paddock.
